I finally came to American Grille at Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel, where I passed it by almost everyday. I was expecting it to be somewhat decent because it looked busy inside.
My mom wanted to check out the big semi annual sale at the Bay in Richmond Centre, so we were having an early dinner. We were first to arrive but already informed most of the tables were reserved. As the hostess was hesitant to give us a table by the window, but she eventually gave it to us after she was convinced we were just having a quick dinner.
We ordered the prime rib steak and the seafood feast. It took almost 20 minutes for the food to arrive, which seemed a little long in an empty dining room. The seasoning was good on the steak, but the quality of the steak itself was questionable: it was thin, and the texture was slightly buy clonazepam canada odd. The mashed potato that came with the steak was dense and almost gummy. The seafood dish was even a bigger disappointment. There were very few pieces of seafood, and the colors looked depressing. One of the mussels tasted slightly fishier and I had to toss away. The grilled fennel at the bottom was a little undercooked and chewy.
I have truly amazing dining experiences at hotel restaurants. But this dinner just proved that this hotel was no Shangri-la or Fairmont.
