I am pretty certain people must have high exceptions on their dumplings at Chef of Dumplings. Located at a very busy Aberdeen Centre food court, this Chinese food stand has boldly declared their mastery in probably the most popular ethnic food in East Asia. I have eaten a lot of dumplings, I mean a lot, and I was somewhat impressed with their craftsmanship on dumpling making, although I was a little skeptical with the other dishes that they offer. Hong Kong style faux shark fin soup? Malaysian roti canai? And grilled squid with cumin in Uyghur style? None of those dishes make any sense pairing with traditional Chinese dumplings, but they are being served as side dishes. Their lunch combos are very affordable. For $7.75, you get to have 4 pieces of steamed dumplings, a generous serving of grilled squid, some roti canai, and a small bowl of faux shark fin soup, or if you want more dumplings, you can get 12 dumplings and a bowl of soup for the same price. The dumplings are well made, although not super exciting, definitely filling along with the side dishes.
