Don’t you find it a little annoying that your friend’s dish taste much better than yours when you’re on a lunch date? This just happened the other day between me and my new lunch buddy Kenneth. For years, I just didn’t seem to have any good luck getting a decent meal at any of the Coast restaurants. But I still decided to give Italian Kitchen a try, as the place was well known for its elegant and tasteful design, and its central location in Downtown. And it was indeed a very beautiful dining room that we were sitting in. Our waitress however, had a loud and slightly faux voice, making us feel a little uneasy despite being quite attentive. When I was commenting on the food and referring gnocchi as `dumplings`, she reacted in a cold and condescending buy modafinil online usa tone, `Oh you mean the Gnocchi`. Well excuse me, Gnocchi IS a type of dumpling!
My Duck Confit Gnocchi ($17.95) was just not good. The Gnocchi was big and doughy. Honestly, my own Gnocchi that I made following The French Laundry Cookbook tasted better than this. When I tried some of Kenneth’s Special of The Day, Mushroom Risotto with Duck Breast ($28.95), I was jealous. His risotto was A LOT tastier, and the duck breast was perfectly cooked. Is this because the Risotto dish cost more than $10 than the Gnocchi dish? Although Kenneth was enjoying his meal, he found the garlic a little too powerful in the dish.
