Little Ongpin

I have always wanted to check out Little Onpin for their colourful, rich and comforting filipino dishes. And finally we made it there after our badminton game this week. Their menu is huge – deciding what to get ain’t no easy task.

The Java BBQ Chicken ($11.95) was slightly smoky, and we could totally taste the coffee flavour on the chicken and the dipping sauce. Although a little bit on the sweet side, it was moist and delicious!

The Kare-Kare ($12.95) was a plate of beef tripe and oxtail covered in a peanut sauce with some shrimp paste on the side. The oxtail was cooked to super tender. The peanut sauce was much more subtle than expected, and it didn’t work well with the gaminess of beef tripe. However it tasted better after we added the powerful shrimp paste to the dish.

Roast pork is very important in Pinoy food culture. The Pork Sisig ($9.50) was served on a sizzling hot iron plate how to order tramadol online legally with chopped roast pork crackling, onion and chili. It’s better to be consume when it’s hot… Once it cools down, it tastes very greasy. I think it’s fun dish if you don’t care about eating healthy.

The Grilled Squid ($11.50) was my favourite dish of the evening. Not only that squid was fresh and grilled to perfection, the marinade and the dipping vinegar sauce were quite exotic and flavourful as well.

Halo-Halo ($5.50) looked like a dressed up pageant queen of a carnival on an exotic island. Consisting of different types of specialty ice cream and some leche flan, this dessert is huge and totally meant for sharing and pleasing the diners who have a sweet tooth!

This dinner was an enjoyable adventure and totally foreign to me. I would love to come back to try other dishes they offer!
