This year I had a chance to sample the following classics:
Real Mac & Cheese
Perry and Suzzane Poudrier have been part of the PNE Fair family for the past 21 years. Besides the variety of mac & cheese, their hits also include deep-fried oreo’s, deep-fried jelly beans, and an assortment of funnel cakes.
Corn Dog King
The legacy of Jack Hunter was carried on after 73 years at PNE by the later legend’s family.
Hunky Bill’s
For over 50 years, Hunky Bills is known for the traditional Ukrainian-style perogies, sausages and cabbage rolls at the fair by the late “Hunky Bill” and the Konyk family.
Saltspring Noodle Bar
Originally founded on Salt Spring Island, the noodle box concession has added a Maple Bacon Box to their list of popular boxes such as the Malaysian Peanut and the Maple Syrup Terriyaki Chicken.
Footlong Hot Dogs
As one of the most famous PNE favourites, the footlong dogs come in the flavours of the Classic, the Bacon Wrapped, and the Pizza Dog.
Unroutine Poutine
This year the Canadian classic is back for maximum comfort, serving the heavenly Bacoutine, the Parisian with pulled beef and mushrooms, and the classic with fries, gravy, and cheese curds.
Steve O’s Fried Chicken
As a staple at the PNE, Steve O’s offers mouth-watering fried chicken sandwiches, such as the Nashville Style Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Double Donut Chicken Burger.
Twisted Potato Express
Served on a stick, this PNE favourite with creative “twists” offers the following flavours: Sour Crean & Onion, Cheddar, Ketchup, Sea Salt, and Cinnamon Sugar.
SummerLand Soft Serve
Run by Marchant Concessions, the ice cream vendor has been a PNE classic for 23 years. Don’t miss the Harry Potter magic world-inspired Butter Beer Soft Serve as well as the Dole Whip, Vanilla, Chocolate and Hot Fudge Sundae.
Steve O’s Fried Desserts
Beside the famous Deep Fried Kit Kat Bars, they offered to sample, Steve O’s also serves up Deep Fried Oreos, Deep Fried Mars Bar, Deep-fried Cheesecake, and many more.
Tin Lizzy Mini Donut Factory
One of the most popular fan favourites at PNE for over a decade, the Mini Donut Factory is offering the Red Velvet Mini Donuts with Cream Cheese Glazing, as well as the iconic classic mini donuts.
